About JBCC
John Blackburn has spent over forty years to become a Master Craftsman. He has built his reputation as a Goldsmith, Silversmith and Jeweller, and is renowned for his extensive experience and integrity.
John was born in 1949 in the English East Midlands city of Derby. He attended a Secondary Modern school, preferring art and metal work over other subjects. In 1964, at the age of 15, John began his apprenticeship, and what would become a twenty year working relationship with Derby Art College (later the University of Derby).
His six year apprenticeship was served under Mr Sidney Hall, a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths. During this period, John also studied related subjects of sheet metalwork, blacksmithing and engineering. John holds City and Guilds qualifications at distinction level in: Advanced Silversmithing and Allied Crafts; and, Advanced Jewellery. He also holds a City and Guilds qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
When John has free time he likes to relax by hiking in the British countryside. He is interested in antiques, gardening, art, history and architecture. John has played an active role in his local Church for many years, holding church officer positions and as a youth worker.
